The Details trailer gives Maguire darkness

TobeyMaguire.jpg"So far this has been the good news..." I have to say that line in the trailer for The Details had me laugh out loud and the rest of the film is a mixture of building dread and humour. The Details looks rather enticing.

I like darker, natural humour and it looks like that's going to be a part of this film but it also looks like there are going to be some interesting and surprising performances with Tobey Maguire, Elizabeth Banks, Ray Liotta, Kerry Washington, Laura Linney, Dennis Haysbert and Sam Trammell.

Writer and director Jacob Aaron Estes looks like he's gathered a great cast together but I was surprised to see Tobey Maguire in the lead, well scrub that I wasn't surprised as he's a great actor but I still see Peter Parker when I look at him. A film like this could be another step away from that association, and to be fair he's been making a good few ever since.

His supporting cast is strong too, but it's the trailer that really sells it to me, here's the blurb for The Details first:

Tobey Maguire, Elizabeth Banks star in this darkly funny comedy about how one perfect couple's small mistake leads to a wild chain of events involving extortion, sex and murder. Laura Linney, Kerry Washington, Ray Liotta round out the all-star cast.

I love the way the dread builds through the trailer and you just know that everything's going to go wrong for the leading character but in the latter stages it brings in an unexpected darkness, just enough to get you wondering how far this is going to go. I also love the fact that Laura Linney is in it as I love her performances.
