There was a clip of the Gambit trailer on just the other day but here's the full thing and beware, Alan Rickman will be naked and Colin Firth's trousers will be off! The film is a remake of the comedy starring Michael Caine and Shirley MacLaine and it comes from the Coen brothers with Firth and Cameron Diaz taking up the famous roles being supported by Rickman and Stanley Tucci, a great list of names for the remake.

It's a comedy based around a man's seemingly insane plan to con his abusive billionaire boss out of some of his money for revenge and, well for his own pocket too. A crazy plan considering that he's not a thief or a con-man and he's chosen the most unlikely partner.

Here's the blurb for the new Gambit, which does sound very similar to the original however watching the trailer I think it's fair to say there are going to be a lot of differences:

Curator Harry Deane is an expert in fine art, but he's equally accomplished in taking abuse from his insolent boss. That's about to change. The plan - trick the avid art collector into buying a fake Monet painting. To assist in the heist, Deane hires a rowdy Texas cowgirl to help him fool the richest man in England. But as the plan begins to unravel, Deane finds he is falling in love with the rodeo queen, ensuing further complications.

It looks like Colin Firth, Cameron Diaz, Alan Rickman and Stanley Tucci are going to have fun galore playing these roles and it might just be a damned good remake that delivers a great comedy to stand on its own. It's written by Ethan and Joel Coen and directed by Michael Hoffman who has directed comedy before and whose last film was The Last Station, a rather different but equally well cast film. This might be one to watch out for.
