Code Name: Geronimo trailer, another Bin Laden mission film
Another film is due to hit about the mission to storm the compound in Pakistan that was believed to be housing Osama Bin Laden and take him alive or dead, if he turned out to be there of course. Recent history proved the analysts to be correct and the man was indeed there and was killed during the assault, and now Hollywood is preparing to tell the tale, twice.
The first film we heard of was the Kathryn Bigelow directed film called Zero Dark Thirty which has attracted the most attention both for the content of the film and the politics behind how the information was gathered. This second film, Code Name: Geronimo, doesn't seem to be attracting the same attention.
Perhaps that's because it's not as accurate or doesn't go into as much detail, or perhaps the politicians have managed to use the first film to announce its presence for their own political point scoring and have no need to do it on another, we won't really know until we see the final film, and even then we might never really know how accurate they really are.
Anyway, Code Name: Geronimo is a film about the team behind the mission to capture or kill Osama Bin Laden and that now famous mission. It is directed by John Stockwell who you might well recognise from starring in a good few films himself, and directing films such as Blue Crush, Into the Blue and Paradise Lost. The film stars such names as William Fichtner, Cam Gigandet, Freddy Rodríguez and Xzibit.
From reading the very short one line blurbs that are out there already for the film it does look like this is going to concentrate more on the team and their training, culminating in the mission itself.
The trailer does look rather good although the production would suggest that this is going to be the smaller cousin of Kathryn Bigelow's Zero Dark Thirty, but perhaps that's an improper call on the film, maybe this is actually going to be more like a team member, telling more of the story of the team while Bigelow's film concentrates on a much wider view. Again, time will tell.
Here's the trailer for Code Name: Geronimo which comes through TrailerAddict:
Looks rather good, but will it prove to be anything near Zero Dark Thirty and will we get to see it released as so far it looks like only Brazil and Italy are getting to see it.
