Mendes still directing Bond 23?
It seems that Sam Mendes may still be in the prime position of directing the next Bond film, and with the creditors and courts having just accepted the MGM bankruptcy deal, it seems that everything is coming together for the Bond film to happen.
Word also arrives of the composer and leading actor's readiness to join the twenty-third Bond film, it seems as though all systems are go and it might even be in a race with The Hobbit to get made.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves though. The story comes from the ex-wife of Sam Mendes, Kate Winslet, who reveals that she will be heading to the UK with their children in order to bring them near him for the filming, a very considerate ex-wife if you ask me.
According to The Daily Mail through Coming Soon, Kate Winslet revealed that they still believe that Sam Mendes is coming to the UK next year to film Bond 23.
”Sam is doing the next Bond film, all being well, and we’ll all be in England if that happens. It’s such a massive commitment for him and it’s not fair for him to commute backwards and forwards to New York from London. It would be impossible. The children will be there with me.”
That sounds like plans are afoot, and with the story saying that David Arnold has confirmed his role as composer on the film and that Daniel Craig is on board (obviously), it looks like the project is moving forward.
There's even word that Barbara Broccoli went to see Simon Russell Beale perform in Deathtrap on stage twice in order to consider him for casting. Now that I'm not so sure about, I was with the story up to that point and now I'm wondering if she was perhaps just going to the theatre and liked the play.
However it is clear that Bond 23 is moving forward and we're definitely going to see it. With The Hobbit films getting a little closer to reality that could also mean MGM are back in business. Darren Aronofsky's RoboCop anyone? He's still keen.
