Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief second teaser trailer
There's a new teaser trailer out for Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, and I class this as a teaser trailer since it's effectively the first teaser with some footage lobbed on at the beginning, and it's poor. It isn't a good trailer at all, especially when compared to the first one.
The film is adapted from the series of books about a young man who discovers that he's a descendant of the Greek Gods and he's drawn into an ongoing battle between them.
Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief is based on a series of books from Rick Riordan ( / ) and is directed by Chris Columbus. The film has a strong cast with names such as Rosario Dawson, Uma Thurman, Pierce Brosnan, Sean Bean, Catherine Keener, Kevin McKidd, Steve Coogan and Joe Pantoliano.
It feels more like an X-Men film at the beginning, breaking straight into some action and revealing up front by some character that the Greek Gods are real and we get treated to some X-Men style exploding cars from hand thrown fireballs, all the while with Brosnan's voice-over telling us about the story.
Then we got to the part which starts to build the tension up towards the big reveal. Except you've already revealed that they are Gods, you've shown some big effects, told us that he's descended from them, and revealed absolutely everything, so what surprise is there when the lift opens and we see the big mountain? None. Especially since we saw it in the last teaser. Very poor.
