Filmstalker: Beckinsale is in Underworld 3

A little miffed that you won't be seeing Kate Beckinsale in Underworld: Rise of the Lycans? Well it turns out she will be in the third film, just not for very long.

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, tells the story of the war between the Vampires and Lycans (werewolves). Michael Sheen plays Lucien, who emerges as a leader of the Lycans. He rallies them against the people who enslaved them, the vampires.

Playing Sonja in Underworld 3 is Rhona Mitra. Despite being daughter of the vampire elder, she falls in love with Lucien. The female lead, but different role, in the other two films had been played by Kate Beckinsale. It had been thought she wouldn't appear at all in Underworld 3. But thanks our friend the flashback she will. Shock Till You Drop, through Coming Soon, say previous footage from Underworld will be used.

...we got to talking with one crew member who revealed the threequel will open and close with Selene (as played by Kate Beckinsale). When asked if it was new footage, we were told it was a scene from Len Wiseman's 2003 Underworld that will be used to bookend the film.

Are you happy Kate Beckinsale will be in Underworld 3 after all? Or are you not interested in recycled footage being used?

It won't really bother me that much. It would be great to see her brief appearance no matter how they make it happen.

Rhona Mitra does not play Selene in the Underworld 3. she plays Sonna. the daughter that Viktor burned to death. just because they look alike doesnt mean shes supposed to be Kate Beckinsale.

It would have been better if it was new footage, but either way, she's great. Evolution had recycled footage as well. Sometimes it's good beacause it shows more of a connection.

Well Kate is Underworld you cant do underworld right without her. But its been said that she was tired of vampire movies and if thats how she feels than hey we cant do anything about it. But I'm not sure I'll go see it if Kate isn't really in it I'm sorry but it won't work I'm not happy at all with this but hey what can I say.

I recently just saw the 3rd one without seeing any of the others...i thought it was very good so im going to watch the 1st and the second. but to get this straight the 3rd one is supposed to be before the first? and the second one is set after the first?
