It's just been announced that Jean Reno is joining a Hollywood comedy called Couples Retreat which also stars Vince Vaughn, Jon Favreau, Jason Bateman, Kristen Bell, Malin Akerman, Kristin Davis and Faizon Love. Now while that sounds like an interesting cast (Bell – gorgeous) the plot doesn't.

It's not the first odd choice on his career list, he's got the two Pink Panther remake films including the sequel due out next year. What is he up to?

Interestingly the rest of his non-Hollywood career continues to be pretty good, but over at Hollywood we see a string of films that range from terrible to just above the radar. In fact if I look back through his career the first thing to flash up as a decent and leading performance is Les Rivières pourpres, aka The Crimson Rivers, and before that Ronin, and that was a Hollywood film, and a good one.

Reno is a great actor but he's getting some really poor roles, and the story from Variety about Couples Retreat is another one which sounds like he'll just have to appear and coast through.
