Ribisi in Cameron's Avatar

GiovanniRibisi.jpgGiovanni Ribisi has signed on to James Cameron's Avatar, his animated futuristic epic, and all those other words that suggest grand scale, film.

Not only is he starring alongside names such as Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Rodriguez, Sam Worthington, and Zoe Saldana, but he will be alongside six computer generated actors.

James Cameron is really pushing things forward with Avatar, and by all accounts something such as Beowulf is going to look ancient technology when we see this film.

Not content with straight motion capture his studio has created their own system for capturing performances and creating computer enhanced imagery. They are also creating completely computer generated actors for some of the roles, how that differs from CGI mixed with live-action we'll have to wait and see.

The news of Giovanni Ribisi's casting comes from Reuters through , and it steps up the strength of the cast a little bit more.

So far, this project is looking really exciting. The film will tell the story of two planets dominated by two very different races who are at odds with each other, one is of course human.
